Play at the Plate had a contest, and instead of the inevitable 2nd spot on the randomizer list, I won! What the…?!
PatP sent me a Topps Value Pack, which had some nice tradeable material and a few niceties to give my LCS owner (he treats me well), plus a healthy bunch of Twins singles I needed, a sampling I’ve shown below.

Expect a little something in your Chrismas stocking, PatP. 😉
Little did we know when we started this trade that our respective “home towns” would be meeting in the World Series. Brian at Play at the Plate sent the cards below plus some of this year’s Bowman Twins in exchange for four GU/AU and some assorted A-Rod and Topps Gold singles. We have both been very civilized about the World Series, with me giving my wishes to Brian that the Rangers don’t embarrass themselves too badly, while Brian equally voiced his sincere concern that the Cardinals’ self-esteem would not be utterly destroyed. Would that the rest of the world got along as well as we do… 🙂

Seriously Brian, best of luck, and thanks for the trade!
A while back Play at the Plate from his eponymous website snagged the Twins on the cheap from one of flywheel’s group breaks, probably thinking at the time that he could trade them away (and I find out, Joe Mauer is one of his PC’s, too). I had eyeballed the particular group break, but since it wasn’t the best match to my wantlists, I passed…but I did let him know that I was at least interested in the 2005 Topps Total Twins. Well, he traded me a slew of those, plus several other Twins cards as well.

Thanks PatP, and best of luck for your boy’s recovery.
Over that past few weeks, I’ve been working on a trade with Play at the Plate, and we eventually worked out a Twins-for-Rangers (and Senators) swap. Between vacations and battles with allergies, it may have taken a while to get done, but there are now lots of ’74 Rangers (and a few Senators) in a happier place, and an excellent variety of Twins have come home to roost.
