When it comes to cool Twins cards, Good Trading Buddy BobFranklin always seems to have them, so when I come across any unusual Phillies or Braves cards, I know where to turn. Sure enough, here is what my latest batch shipped off to Bob secured:
clockwise, from top left: 2013 Topps Commemorative Patch #CP-32 Joe Mauer (manu-patch); 2013 Topps Manufactured Patch Card #MCP-21 Joe Mauer (manu-patch); 2013 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects Red Ice #BDPP145 Joel Licon [01/25]; 2013 Bowman Platinum Top Prospects #TP-OA Oswaldo Arcia; 2001 Fleer Greats of the Game #112 Tony Oliva; 2007 Topps All-Star Rookies #ASR9 Francisco Liriano; 2012 Bowman Chrome Purple Refractor #18 Joe Benson [183/199]; 2011 Topps Pro Debut #147 Niko Goodrum
Always a pleasure, Bob!

The good news? I was offered a true 1/1 Twins card in trade. The bad news: it was a Delmon Young card. The good news, though — we were able to strike up an amicable trade, and I made a new trade partner out of the deal. Special thanks to Topher for pointing The Trumpet Man in my direction.
The 1/1 is a 2009 Topps Platinum, my first true 1/1 besides a few printing plates. The Trumpet Man also did the favor of digging through his other cards, and he came up with about a dozen cards I needed, most being 1990’s cards I hadn’t caught up with yet. Here’s a sampling:
clockwise, from top left: 2009 Topps Platinum #656 Delmon Young [1/1]; 1996 Topps Laser Bright Spots #B10 Marty Cordova; 2004 Fleer Ultra Colby Miller #364; 1995 Upper Deck Electric Diamond #431 Dave Stevens; 1995 Upper Deck SP Championship Series #169 Chuck Knoblauch; 1990 Pacific Legends #17 Rod Carew
I’ve suggested The Trumpet Man reach out to others of the neighborhood of blogging collectors and to consider creating his own blog someday; if you do get an email from him, he has my glowing reference. Thanks again for the trade!
[EDIT: He did it!]
Additionally, here are a few more recent pickups from The Bay and from trades:
clockwise, from top left: 2006 Upper Deck Special F/X Special Endorsements #SE-FL Francisco Liriano (auto); 2005 Donruss Diamond Kings Materials Bronze #129 Jacque Jones [136/200] (jersey&bat); 2005 Leaf Prospects Red #224 Jesse Crain [011/100] (auto); 2006 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Ultimate Tandem Patches #UT-HK Jason Kubel w/Hermida [24/35] (dual jersey); 2003 Topps Finest #104 J.D. Durbin (auto)
Once again it was time to trade Braves & Phillies with BobFranklin since it was round two of the contest at Sports Card Freaks. Unlike last time, though, I couldn’t help him advance to the next round. Still, it was a great trade:
clockwise, from top left: 2008 Upper Deck Timeline #TM-MO Justin Morneau (jersey); 2007 Upper Deck Sweet Spot Sweet Swatch Memorabilia #SW-HU Torii Hunter (jersey); 2007 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects Future Games Prospect Patches #BDPP104 Matt Tolbert [49/99] (jersey); 2005 Upper Deck Reflections Cut from the Same Cloth Dual Red #CC-MK Harmon Killebrew / Justin Morneau [28/99] (dual jersey); 2007 Upper Deck Artifacts Apparel #MLB-FL Francisco Liriano [082/199] (jersey)
We gave it a good try, Bob; thanks again for the trade!
In addition, I raided the trade bait page at Nachos Grande and flipped some Reds cards to Chris for these (and other) Twins cards:
clockwise, from top left: 2012 Allen & Ginter N43 Boxtopper #N43-8 Joe Mauer; 2011 Topps Gypsy Queen Mini Gypsy Queen Back #153 Delmon Young; 2012 Allen & Ginter Mini Black Bordered #297 Justin Morneau; 2012 Allen & Ginter Mini Black Bordered #138 Josh Willingham; 2011 Topps Lineage Diamond Parallel #20 Justin Morneau; 2011 Topps Lineage Venezuela #TV17 Joe Mauer; 2000 Skybox Metal #96 Brad Radke
Traded for a few other Twins cards as well, including my first Gaetti AU. Don’t forget to check out my Trade Bait page!
Fresh off the trading competition at Sports Card Arena, BobFranklin decided to take on the Sports Card Freaks contest as well. Being easy to find cards for (Braves & Phillies), I found several cards he needed, and in return Bob sent a 2013 Joe Mauer base card, as well as these:
clockwise, from top left: 2002 Fleer eX Game Essentials #23 Brad Radke (jersey); 2009 Upper Deck SPx Winning Materials Triple #WM3-NLB Joe Nathan / Francisco Liriano / Scott Baker (triple jersey); 2012 Topps Finest Xfractor Refractor #83 Joe Mauer; 2007 Upper Deck Future Stars Gold #58 Johan Santana [36/99]; 2008 Topps Moments & Milestones #87 Johan Santana (Strikeout 226) [21/25]; 2006 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Game Materials #UGM-HU Torii Hunter [19/50] (jersey)
Time to start piling up cards to trade for round two. Thanks again for the trade, GTB Bob!

With time spent working on Play with the Prose and with trading on The Bench, I’ve been lax on trading with (and even reading posts by) the friendly neighborhood card collector bloggers. Well, I’d emailed
Scott from Sports Cards Ate My Brain a while back about a trade, and he agreed to strike one up. I heavily raided his Twins trade bait page and he mine, and we built a whopper!

I didn’t realize how many of his cards were s#’d as well — just a great variety of stuff.

Hopefully Scott was equally pleased with the Braves-centric material shipped in his direction. Thanks for the trade, Scott, and best of luck with your collecting!
With some more Braves cards from my trade bait page, I was able to snag these cards from clarkesk82 at Sports Card Arena:
clockwise, from top left: 2009 Topps Chrome Refractor #240 Brian Duensing [012/499] (auto); 2009 Topps Chrome #240 Brian Duensing (auto); 2011 Topps Gypsy Queen Target Green Frame #31 Joe Mauer; 2011 Bowman Platinum Gold #59 Justin Morneau
Nice timing; “Dunce” got the win in last night’s ballgame. Thanks for the trade!
I went back to the well with Sports Card Arena trader BobFranklin, and for some more Braves and Phillies GU and inserts/s#’d cards, I received the following cards. (more after the break)
I’ve taken a shine to the Beam Team autograph cards, and these were my first B&W and Gold parallels. Also, the Endorsements cards are very sharp looking.
clockwise, from top left: 2008 Topps Stadium Club Beam Team Gold #BTA-CMO Craig Monroe [42/50] (auto); 2008 Topps Stadium Club Beam Team Black & White #BTA-CMO Craig Monroe [94/99] (auto); 2005 Donruss Signature Series Silver #68 Garrett Jones (auto); 2006 Upper Deck F/X Special Endorsements #SE-DG Dave Gassner (auto)

Continuing again from a previous post…
The final package to arrive, Package #7, was also from a Sports Card Arena trader, BobFranklin. Bob collects Braves and Phillies cards, so besides sending him a couple GU/AU, he got some inserts and almost 160 different UD Documentary cards of the two teams. Made for a hefty shipping cost, but in exchange Bob sent me 13 GU Twins cards. In fact, he still had others (I’m starting another pile to try tickle some more Twins out of him), so I had to do some prioritizing to decide which ones I wanted to trade for — a nice problem to have. Anyway, the loot — first, some nice s#’d and eye catchers:
clockwise, from top left: 2005 Fleer Patchworks Die Cut #PW-TH Torii Hunter [42/49] (jersey); 2005 Upper Deck Classics Classic Materials #MA-JM Jack Morris (jersey); 2006 Fleer Flair Showcase Stitches #SS-TO Torii Hunter (jersey); 2007 Upper Deck Artifacts Apparel #MLB-SA Johan Santana [190/199] (jersey); 2005 Donruss Diamond Kings #129 Jacque Jones [008/100] (jersey&bat); 2008 Upper Deck Spectrum Swatches #SS-BB Boof Bonser [49/99] (jersey)
Next, a few miscellaneous:
clockwise, from top left: 2004 Donruss World Series #WS-106 Shannon Stewart [154/250] (jersey); 2005 Donruss Timber & Threads #TT-15 Jacque Jones (bat); 2008 Upper Deck Game Jersey #99-JK Jason Kubel (jersey); 2008 Upper Deck UD Jersey #UDJ-CU Michael Cuddyer (jersey)
And last but certainly not least, a slew of Lew. (My avatar is pleased.)
clockwise, from top left: 2005 Donruss Zenith #ZB-54 Lew Ford (jersey); 2005 Donruss Leaf Certified Materials Mirror White #160 Lew Ford [224/250] (bat); 2003 Topps Bowman Best #BB-JLF Lew Ford (bat)
The ol’ Relic/Auto/Plate Havelist is filling up nicely. Bob, thanks for the trade, and you won’t get rid of me that easily!
